My New Addiction...

So again, here I go making another one of my semi-annual posts. I mean... I would think that I'd post more often, seeing as I pay to have this up here, but oh well. As if anyone reads it anyway. So I suppose a lot has gone on in my life lately, again, but I think it's all good. At least most of it. Summer seems to bring on good things, and good feelings, which I hope do not pass with the season. Here goes...

First of all, I bought, and proceeded to crash a motorcycle. Before you go and jump to conclusions, let me explain myself. I took the safety course through Lane Community College in April. I bought a 1993 Suzuki GSX750F Katana off of craigslist soon after. It's an old bike, that needs some love, but I figured it would be a good bike to start off with. You know, if I dropped it in a parking lot (which I did) or laid it over because of lack of experience, I wouldn't cry about it too much. I got a couple months worth of riding out of it, and it's been a blast. There's nothing like the feeling of the wind rushing over you as you go up mountain roads, and around hair-pin corners.

For the sake of keeping this in chronological order, I'm going to break away from that story for a second, and move on to the part that the title stems from. I had gone on a 100ish mile ride with a couple of friends early one morning, and I decided to meet my friend Crissy for lunch. We met up at Taco Bell, and since I was bored, I followed her back to where she has been staying, with her friend Marlene. I met Marlene, who seemed a bit distracted at the time, but seemed to be a really cool person. I hung around for a bit, then took off to go home. They said that I should come back and hang out a couple days later, so of course I did. Needless to say, craziness ensued, and well, I woke up on the couch at Marlene's house a couple of days later (the day that we all hung out), With Marlene next to me. I was wondering how this had happened, as we had spent a good amount of time getting to know each other, and just talking about, you know, life the universe and everything... Evidently talking until 5am tires you out, so naturally you fall asleep. Some time passed, I mowed her lawn, you know, the common things a guy does for a girl he kind of likes... And a few days later, we come to realize that hey, we both kind of like each other. Anyway, my roommates begin to wonder if I even live there anymore, and people at work are asking my why I'm so damn happy... To which I just grin and nod.

So again, this brings me back to the previous story, as I'm over at Marlene's house hanging out, and for some reason I decide to go to the store. Bear in mind that I said this bike needed some love, and well, I wasn't faithful enough to it, rather I thought it could wait another paycheck, for it to take care of me. I needed to put a new chain on it, but I thought I could make it last. It proved me wrong that night. I stopped at the stop sign right in front of Mar's house, and went into the left hand turn. When I shifted to 2nd gear, the chain jumped the sprocket and caught up in the swing arm, causing the rear tire to lock up. I did the little wobble for a little ways, trying to maintain control, which ended in failure. Luckily I pulled it out of the lean, but I still laid it over on it's right side. I was only going about 25mph, so the damage to me was almost ignorable, the handlebar hit my wrist hard enough to do some damage, but nothing overly serious. The bike on the other hand, it spewed oil all over the road through the hole I ground in the starter cover, bent the right handlebar straight down, and trashed the plastics on the right side. Given all that, I got up, some old guy who watched the whole thing from his porch helped me get the bike back on the tires, then I proceeded to push the bike the block or so back to Mar's house and park it. I told her what had happened, and of course she was not happy. Something about she 'just got' me and I 'can't go killing myself now' or something like that. I promised to be more careful.

I took the bike back to my house on a trailer the next day, and I'm waiting for the replacement parts to come in to fix it. All in all, it was a good lesson on the necessity of faithful chain maintenance on a bike. Something I will never forget again.

I realize that a lot of this has focused more on the bike, and may have seemed to have mentioned Mar as a side note, but that is not my intention at all. I just wanted to devote a paragraph or two just to her. I mentioned in one of my previous posts that drama sticks to me like flies on dung... And well, I do not think that is true in this case. Mar takes good care of herself, and her two girls. She is not self centered and has a personality much like mine as far as being laid back and willing to go the extra mile to make sure every responsibility is taken care of. She is a very beautiful person, inside and out, and I really have yet to find something to dislike about her. I'm not a naive person, and I'm sure there will be some things that we'll find about each other that aren't exactly perfect, but it seems that her and I are both very understanding, and willing to work things out.

All in all, so far we work together very well, and I'm very happy with what I have with her. This is something that I hope and pray lasts a very long time. So far I have no reason not to believe that it will. She treats me very well, and I do my best to return the favor. So far she says I'm doing a good job. :D Anyway, I gave her whatever cold I got, so I should probably turn my laptop off and try to help her feel better, so I am going to sign off. Thanks for reading...

You'll see more sometime this year I'm sure...
